Full Details

A phenomenal and elegant historic residence which has been modernised throughout yet still oozes with character and period features. Boasting circa 4295sqft of internal living accommodation with six double en-suite bedrooms, large and level, formal gardens with walled organic vegetable garden, detached stone constructed enclosed and open bay garage, and gated driveway with parking for 10+ vehicles and motor-home. Situated in an idyllic and serene village location, within walking distance from a local pub and plenty of rural walks from the doorstep.

Blaisdon House is a fantastic example of where beautifully maintained period style and characterful features meets a modern contemporary and luxurious home. The current vendors have cosmetically upgraded the Georgian residence to create a current and tasteful interior, and have invested in economical enhancements, such as double glazed windows throughout, additional insulation, new heating system and a pressurised water system.

This property's origins dates back to the 1260's and re-modelled in 1847 by the Crawshay-Bovey family who built the grand mansion Blaisdon Hall. It was then known as The Local Personage. Blaisdon House now offers spacious and light living accommodation set over three floors (with additional basement storage and a wine cellar). Externally, the total plot size is circa one acre, with well-maintained gardens previously designed and landscaped by Award Winning gardener Julian Dowle.

The ground floor comprises entrance hall, formal dining room with feature fireplace, drawing room with feature fireplace , sitting room with access to rear garden, fitted utility room, downstairs WC, bespoke fitted kitchen/breakfast room with bi-folding doors to rear garden, and study. The first floor comprises four double bedrooms which all have their own private and modern en-suites. The second floor comprises two double bedrooms, both with modern en-suites, and one with its own dressing room and walk-in wardrobe. There is also access to eaves storage.

Outside, there is a driveway with gated access into the property's grounds, where there is parking for multiple vehicles, a turning circle, and a detached double open bay garage with workshop, and log store. Please note: there is power and lighting supply.
The formal gardens are mainly laid to lawn and are well maintained to a high standard, with a beautiful selection and variety of trees, shrubs, bushes, flowers, and an organic vegetable garden which also houses chickens, offering a relaxing and spacious area outside to sit and enjoy all nature has to offer. There is a raised terrace connected to the property which offers fantastic entertainment space for guests and family members, making great use of a mixture between indoor and outdoor living.

Situated in the highly desirable village of Blaisdon which has its own pub and fantastic rural walks, this property is within close proximity to a number of local villages and towns (2.6 miles from Longhope, 4.2 miles from Newnham, and 11 miles from Ross-On-Wye, 9.4 miles from Gloucester, 17 miles from Cheltenham).

A wide range of facilities and activities are also available throughout the Forest of Dean. The Severn Crossings and M4 towards London, Bristol and Cardiff are easily reached from this area along with the cities of Gloucester and Cheltenham for access onto the M5 and the Midlands.

The vendors' thoughts:

We have a tinge of sadness putting Blaisdon House up for sale. We have thoroughly enjoyed almost 10 years here and have often pinched ourselves with how lucky we have been to enjoy this wonderful light and airy house and its gardens. Blaisdon House is steeped in history having been here for over 800 years. Its rooms are large and airy and the house benefits from being south facing. It has plenty of parking and we have made excellent use of the workshop over the years. Its gardens are a sheer joy and offer a great space to relax and entertain. The village itself is off the beaten track, with its quaint pub over the road and a manor house overlooking it. It's a very active and friendly village with plenty going on throughout the year. We will miss our bespoke kitchen and Aga and growing our own organic fruit and veg in the walled vegetable garden which houses our chickens as well. We are sure the new owners will love Blaisdon House as much as we have done.
